DVD Replication Service

What Is DVD Replication?

DVD replication service at MediaXpress begins with creating a glass master, which serves as the template for your DVDs. The glass master is placed into an injection molding press, where DVDs are formed using melted polycarbonate pellets, and your digital content is embedded directly into the disc.

Next, a reflective layer is applied, followed by a lacquer finish to seal and protect the data. Replicated DVDs are compatible with all DVD players, have a longer lifespan, and are more costeffective for producing larger quantities.

When Should I Choose Replication Over Duplication?

It depends on the project. If your content is music and you’re ordering a thousand discs or more, DVD replication is the best choice. If your content is data and its lifespan is less than a year, duplication is the better option. For a new album with fewer than a thousand units, DVD duplication is ideal. There is little to no difference in performance between replicated and duplicated DVDs.

Duplication has grown in importance due to market changes and the demand for shorter production runs. One of the best developments in our industry is the improvement in printing and packaging quality; it’s now easier and more affordable than ever to produce high-quality DVDs. Today’s DVD consumers have access to higher-quality products at incredible prices.
